About Us

Grippees is a children's clothing business based on the small island of Tasmania, Australia. All of our products are designed right here in Tasmania and are ethically produced by our partners in China to ensure your little ones are wearing the highest standard of anti-slip wear.

The idea for Grippees was first born around the time our daughter turned one in 2022. Like most parents on their child's birthday, we wanted to dress Laynie in something a little bit special. We had purchased a generic pair of white stockings that would go with a couple of outfits to wear during her birthday celebrations to visit family and friends. As a new walker (and as a blustering and confident second child in the family) Laynie just wanted to keep up with her older brother, Fin.

On her birthday, Laynie kept slipping over on the hard floors around our house and family members houses. Tiles, lino, floor boards and polished concrete floors were among the offending slippery surfaces.

That day the stockings ended up coming off, but in the days to follow we began looking into buying some stockings with grips to solve our slippery problem, however our search yielded very little results. 

After discussions with friends and family who also had little girls, we learned that we were not the only ones who were interested that this product was hard to find locally and was surprisingly uncommon. This motivated us to start toying with the idea of creating our own anti-slip sole stocking... The rest, as they say, is history.
